Tribute- Beyond

Hello, ni hao ma?

Haha, sebulan kebelakangan ni aku sudah terjatuh hati pada satu band ni, dari Hong Kong. Title band? Beyond.

Di djaman muda2 dulu

Ini band orangnya semua Chinese okay. Lagu diorang semua dalam bahasa Cantonese. Cantonese tu apa? Dialek orang China kawasan selatan kalau tak silap aku, dan Hong Kong semuanya cakap Cantonese, bukan Mandarin. Contoh Cantonese? Banyak...movie2 Hong Kong macam movie2 Stephen Chow tu.

Anyway, balik pada band ini.

First time I heard to their songs was...way back to 2004. 8 years ago tu...such a long2 time isn't it? Sejarahnya...my big brother Awi ada terbeli album Beyond- My True Love. It's kind of a compilation of their hits songs la. Then tak lama lepas tu, ada sorang student pompuan (he was a temporary teacher at Sekolah Menengah Sin Min) gave him exactly the same album to him as a parting present. So... my brother possessed two same albums.

Muzik Beyond ni...bagi aku sangat best. Honestly I don't understand a damn thing pun dalam lagu2 diorang. Even tajuk pun aku tak leh nak sebut. Tetapi, muzik tu universal katanya. Music can reach everyone's soul even if there's no lyrics, or the lyrics are alien to you. So, that's what happened to me. I am deeply attracted to thieir songs.

Ada beberapa lagu yang aku sangat suka. Antaranya,

Ini lagu tajuk dia Kam Ting Ngor (Vast Sky and Boundless Sea). Story about a man's dream and his determination to hang on to his dream.

Then, this song,

This song mainly about the struggle against apartheid. And indirectly, a tribute to Nelson Mandela.

Hm...last song to share...is this.

Lagu ni lagu jiwang. About a man who is indecisive about his love future and he's about to leave his gilfriend.

Actually, there are lots other yang super best. Tapi macam biasa, I cant read the title and thus I cant share the songs lo. Still, 3 di atas ni antara my favourites la.

Balik kepada band ini.

Kisah hidup band ini agak sedih sebenarnya. Bermula pada tahun 1983, mereka berpegang pada konsep progressive rock apakebendalagiakutaksure dan malangnya, masa tu community sana hanya menerima lagu2 leleh jiwang dan muka2 kacak2 dan market sket. So...struggle lah diorang sampai ke breakthrough yang berjaya dibuat hanya selepas tukar sket direction lagu2 diorang ke arah jiwang.

Anyway, bila dah mula famous, diorang balik ke kiblat yang asal. Malah, mempelbagaikan lagi dengan lagu2 bertema keamanan, friendship, impian dan macam2 lah. Malang tak berbau lagi, singer utama a.k.a mastermind bagi band ini iaitu Wong Ka Kui died when they were at their peak. Mati terjatuh stage tinggi yang disediakan untuk gameshow di Jepun. Maka... Beyond tetap wujud dan terus berjuang, tetapi they are never the same as before. Penamatnya, band ini secara rasmi telah gantung gitar, bass dan simpan drum pada tahun 2005. Untuk maklumat lanjut, Mr. Wikipedia boleh terangkan.

Jujurnya, this is one kind of a quality band. Though the language is completely not understandable by me but still the music prevail. It's a pity this band had lost it's leader through that accident, and it's a pity too that I am not able to differentiate/download/collect their songs all caused by the Chinese characters. However, I have one special person who is willing to help me in translating and naming the songs=)

So, sekarang ni aku officially layan lagu Melayu, Indon, English, Jerman, Siam, Cina, Jepun dan Korea. That's okay because music is universal and boundless. Maybe you all should try to listen to Beyond songs too. Open up your mind=)
